Sign Shop in Kelowna Uses ACM
At SignCraft, we often use ACM or Aluminum Composite Material. ACM panels are used to create anything from parking and road signs to illuminated signs. Oftentimes, ACM signage is composed of two sheets of aluminum bonded over a polyethylene structure. Polyethylene is a type of plastic that is lightweight. It is typically used in everyday items like grocery bags, children’s toys, and squeeze bottles.
When the aluminum and plastic are melded together it creates a durable and sturdy product. It is possible to cut ACM signs into whatever shape you desire, so you can achieve all your business marketing goals. Moreover, this material allows for a sleek finish that does well outdoors – even in the extreme temperatures of the Okanagan. By choosing an ACM sign, you’ll receive a quality product that lasts years.
All About Sintra (A.K.A PVC)
Sintra board signs are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to ensure a smooth finish. This rigid plastic is super lightweight and works both indoors and outdoors. It often comes in a bright white colour to make your design pop! There are different thicknesses of Sintra board available to you. From 1mm all the way to 12.7mm. Although, if you’re looking for an outdoor solution, 10mm+ is the way to go.
The material is highly scratch, bend, chemical, and weather-resistant. Furthermore, it is easy to work with and achieve your most desired sign goals. This material is great for exhibits and kiosks, interior and exterior displays, framing, hanging signage, 3D displays, promotional campaigns, sandwich boards, and more! It can be printed and dyed with almost any colour, so your sign matches your brand perfectly.
What is Coroplast?
At our sign shop in Kelowna, we use coroplast. Coroplast is the brand name of the popularly manufactured corrugated plastic sheets. This material resembles cardboard, however, it is made of durable plastic. Signs made of Coroplast are great for temporary use. They are ideal in both indoor and outdoor settings. This is because of their water, stain, and weather resistance. Additionally, the material is relatively cheap to work with, yet boasts incredible lasting quality. Those who need a great sign at a low cost should consider using Coroplast. The material is lightweight and will withstand the brunt of an Okanagan summer and/or winter.
Sign Shop in Kelowna Uses Direct to Substrate Printing
Direct to substrate printing is a technique used by sign companies like our sign shop in Kelowna. It produces high-quality, full-colour images, onto various substrates. The substrate is simply the base material that a customer is looking to have a design printed on. For instance, any of the materials listed above like Coroplast, Sintra, and ACM plus others like glass, paper, or even canvas.
The process of direct-to-substrate printing is simple. It is completed using a large flatbed UV substrate printer. This allows the ink to be applied to just about any surface! After the ink is applied, the sign must be set under a strong UV light. The ink contains acrylic monomers which is why a UV light is necessary in order to cure the sign. This way the design is bound to the material to ensure long-lasting quality.
Direct to substrate printing allows great flexibility for customers to choose what material best suits their needs as a business owner. In addition, it creates vibrant designs that last so you can reuse them year after year. Customers can have images with resolutions up to 5760 dpi printed. To add, they also take less time to “dry” and print.
